Pre-Emergent And Lawn Fertilization

Achieve a lush, green lawn year-round with the power of pre-emergent and fertilization treatments. Pre-emergent applications prevent stubborn weeds like crabgrass from taking root, while fertilization delivers essential nutrients to promote healthy, vibrant grass growth. Together, these treatments create a weed-free, nutrient-rich lawn that boosts curb appeal and ensures long-lasting beauty for your outdoor space.

Pet And People Friendly Fertilization

We make your lawn the envy of every dog in the neighborhood!

An optimally designed fertilization and weed control program is the key to maintaining a healthy, thriving lawn during the hottest months of the year. By providing consistent nutrients through fertilization, your grass stays strong, green, and resistant to stress from heat and foot traffic. Combined with targeted weed control, this program prevents invasive weeds from stealing vital resources, ensuring your lawn stays lush and beautiful all summer long.

The Optimal Weed Control and Fertilization Schedule

Early Spring (March–April):

  • Pre-emergent Herbicide: Apply a pre-emergent herbicide to prevent weeds like crabgrass and foxtail before they germinate.
  • Fertilization: Use a slow-release fertilizer with a balanced nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium (NPK) ratio (e.g., 20-5-10) to promote root recovery and early growth after winter dormancy.

Late Spring (May):

  • Weed Control: Spot-treat or apply a post-emergent herbicide to target broadleaf weeds like dandelions and clover as they appear.
  • Fertilization: Apply a second dose of fertilizer with a slightly higher nitrogen content to encourage vigorous growth as temperatures rise.

Summer (June–August):

  • Weed Control: Monitor for warm-season weeds and use spot treatments with post-emergent herbicides as needed.
  • Fertilization: Switch to a slow-release, low-nitrogen fertilizer to maintain grass health without encouraging excessive growth, which can stress the lawn in high heat.
  • Watering: Water deeply and infrequently (1–1.5 inches per week) to keep the grass hydrated during Boise’s dry summers.

Fall (September–October):

  • Weed Control: Apply a broadleaf herbicide in early fall to target persistent weeds before they prepare for dormancy.
  • Fertilization: Use a high-nitrogen fertilizer (e.g., 24-0-10) in early to mid-fall to prepare the grass for winter and promote strong root growth.

Late Fall (November):

  • Winterizing Fertilizer: Apply a winterizing fertilizer with a lower nitrogen and higher potassium content (e.g., 10-0-20) to fortify the lawn and improve its tolerance to cold temperatures.
